April 8, 2020 Suspending, for a Time

92320520_3099813983363605_5300513487540191232_nFrom kids to step kids to grandchildren, this woman has been my companion and partner, in business as in life.

She could pull off a business trip while nursing a premie German Shepherd. She could feed a crowd of 200 out of a small kitchen, and have them standing in line for more.

From Washburn to Annamaria to Cozumel island, from small business to political campaigns to fostering the worthy and needful, both two-legged and four.

We’ve been from triumph to tragedy and back again, together always, and in all ways. My woman, my traveling buddy, the love of my life breathed her last sometime in the small hours, this morning.

I love you baby, this was way too soon.

I'm not a "Historian". I'm a father, a son and a grandfather. A widowed history geek and sometimes curmudgeon, who still likes to learn new things. I started "Today in History" back in 2013, thinking I’d learn a thing or two. I told myself I’d publish 365. The leap year changed that to 366. As I write this, I‘m well over a thousand. I do this because I want to. I make every effort to get my facts straight, but I'm as good at being wrong, as anyone else. I offer these "Today in History" stories in hopes that you'll enjoy reading them, as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them. Thank you for your interest in the history we all share. 1. Rick, I am so sorry to learn of your loss. Though we have never met in person, I consider you to be a kindred spirit. I grieve for you and the loss of your beautiful. May G-d grant you peace and comfort in this time.

  2. The picture says so much. She is now part of your and our history. You still have so much more to contribute to all of us. I lost my wife 6 years ago. It does not get easier but you will be able to live with it, as I am sure she wanted

  3. So sorry for your unspeakable loss, Rick. May God be with you in moments, hours, days, weeks, months and years ahead. May you find solace in the love and life you shared! Realize what a treasure you two had, one that few couples have attained. Peace to your soul! Dawn
