I’ve come across Graham’s story in a lot of my reading. Didn’t he get hurt pretty bad during a battle? Can’t remember… great post full of history trivia! And near the American monument to the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne, there is a GIGANTIC STATUE of that iconic kiss.

Yes, he had a piece of shrapnel take out part of his jaw and a couple of teeth, and then a second blast knocked him down three flights of stairs. He got beat up pretty good.

My goodness poor kiddo!! I think I remember reading no one believed him that he was 12 either?? Or they tried to reprimand him or something? Gosh I wish the details weren’t so fuzzy in my head!
